Mission Adventure Letters 19

Hi, here are the pictures that I promised that I had! We had a great time at the Conference for a second time, which normally shouldn’t have happened, but our 2 year mark was on Wednesday. I have been away for 2 years and now have a month to go. We will be working hard and “wak[ing] up the world for the conflict of Justice” and going as hard as we can! Wish us luck!

Elder Murphy

P.S. - I know that some people are thinking, “I wonder if he is ready to come home” or “When is his homecoming talk”, or “What are his plans?”

To answer those, in missionary terms, to be wanting to be home/ready to come home is labeled “trunky”. I am not trunky, I will work as well as I have since I got here and won’t stop until I hit the tarmac at George Bush Intercontinental. I have been assigned to give a talk in church on the 22nd of July, exactly 25 months since I entered the MTC.  I have a lot of plans starting here in Japan. They all involve working hard. Thank you. This has been a public service announcement by the Elders of Machida 1 B, Machida East Zone, Japan Tokyo South Mission.

Note from Dad - Connor will be speaking at the Harmony Building (3591 Discovery Creek Boulevard Spring TX 7738) on July 22nd.  The meeting begins at 2:30.  He would love to see you there.

Mission Adventure Letters 18

Hi everyone! I am still alive, just short on time today. I actually did have pictures to send, but I have accidentally put them onto a flash drive, along with half of my Mission pictures. Sorry. This week was great!
I watched President Nelson’s devotional to the youth and want you all to know that Zion is being Gathered in Japan as you read this! Yay!

Good luck next week!

Mission Adventure Letters 15

Mother’s Day is a special day

Its the day Elder Sumsion finds this picture,

We have a mission conference with elder Renlund

Go see some bamboo

Where there was a castle

And smile until the next Pday
I wrote these comments singing the “Saturday is a special day” song. It will make more sense if you read it that way.

This approximately what happened this week! It was great!  (P.S.- apparently it is week 99...) Week 100: Mount Takao?

Mission Adventure Letters 14

Hello! (I had to type Hello 3 times before I could spell it right)

This was a busy week!
Monday: P-Day: We went around and got ready for all of our meetings this week. At night we wanted to go and visit a less-active, but we ended up doing a ton of contacting. We had to plan a training for Zone Conference that needed a ton of coordination with the ward. We had members be on call to have the missionaries call and practice set up appointments and to practice contacting others.

Tuesday: Fuchu District meeting after shooting some messages to our investigators, it was good. We had McDonalds again. Then we planned with the Sister Training Leader, Sister Smith, for the trainings that we had to give on Wednesday. We went home, had time to prepare Eikaiwa, eat dinner, then did Language study. We decided to do a bunch of things for Salt Lake, like a survey and to watch a broadcast. We have a survey from President Warnick to find out what everyone’s talents and Skills are so that the mission can use our talents more effectively.

Wednesday: Zone Conference: Highlights:
- Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspot for every companionship
- everyone is healthy and Genki
Eikaiwa was good, we had 3 times as many students as the other 2 classes combined.

Thursday: We started the day with heading to Kichijoji for splits with the APs. I got to go with Elder Poff, who was in my apartment in Kamiooka and is my doki. We went to a really fun eki, which was in the middle of nowhere. There was nothing around the eki, but then we went through the neighborhoods to go towards a Christian university, we met lots of nice people who were willing to listen to us. Then at night we had sports night, with Volleyball, Basketball and Ping-pong. A brother from Kunitachi came and we were able to play a couple of games with him.

Friday: District meetings, including one via video call was interesting. We ate with Ebato Kyōdai. We streeted.

Saturday: We had splits and Game Night. We did Mother’s Day dendō and had a good afternoon of that. Game Night was good and we wrote DCS.

Sunday: Mother’s Day! Happy Mother’s Day to all of the Moms out there that are reading this.

Monday: Skype to MOM! It was super good and I learned that my English writing is weird, so if you could spot check me, I would appreciate it. We will start Splits with the Fuchu Elders tonight and there will be 7 elders here, more than the Honbu! (There is not space here). It will be super fun!

Mom, you are always bearing with us, thanks!

I love you!

Mission Adventure Letters 13

Hi, so this week was good, with lots of finding time. It has been awhile since we have done it so effectively and long. I am tired, but it is an amazing tired feeling!

- Fast Sunday
- I saw Masato! He is doing good. He visited from Hibarigaoka for dinner and advice on Saturday.
- We got dendōed by some people and ended up teaching them a good bit

Next week:
- Zone Conference with the whole Stake (2 zones)
- Game Night
- Lesson with the Pilot and everyone else who will come back from vacation

Mission Adventure Letters 12

Hi everyone!
This is week 1 of the transfer! Elder Jödicke was able to get packed and get his luggage off to the airport and then we cleaned the apartment in between lessons. We had a good last week with members and saying bye to investigators. On Thursday everyone was able to transfer safely and we ate at Nio for lunch and dinner. The people in our apartment now are my companion, Elder Sumsion from Kaysville (in Grandma and Grandpa’s Stake), and Elder Jones from Eagle Mountain, Utah.
We had a good leadership training for all of the new mission leadership in Kichijoji and then SPM immediately afterwards.
Game night was good, but no where near the numbers as last time. It was still fun. We had to find all of the Infinity War stickers that someone put on the back of chairs though before sacrament meeting.
Sunday was good, we got to spend time with the Primary while everyone else got to learn about Ministering. Today for P-day, we didn’t do much, we just got to walk through half of the malls in Tachikawa, we didn’t buy anything until we got to Daiso because we actually needed stuff from there.

We will have a great week with all of the new districts and half of MLC got changed around, so I am looking forward to seeing how the mission will grow.
I hope that you all have a great week! See you later!
Elder Murphy
